KB0036: Error – “Attempt to Connect Failed” Polling an RS232 HandPunch Biometric Clock -TimeVue / TimeSource
Solution:
This error occurs because the incorrect clock TYPE was selected in the Clock screen. Make sure the clock TYPE is set to HPx000 and not RS232. If the HPx000 option does not appear in the TYPE drop down list, you will need to enter the Hand Punch module code into software.
- For TimeSource, go to File>Install Modules on the Menu Bar and enter the HandPunch option code from the sticker on the first page of the user guide.
- For TimeVue, select the Install Modules icon from the main switchboard. The Handpunch option code should be on a sticker in your TimeVue Quick Start Guide.
- After entering the upgrade code, reboot the software. Go back to the Clock(Time Clock) screen and change the clock TYPE to HPx000 and do a communication test again.
NOTE: Call technical support at 800-847-2232 option 1 if you cannot find your upgrade codes or if you are still having communication issues.
