KB0126: Error Message: Retrieving the COM Class Factory for CSLID Failed in TimeVue after In
Solution:
This message indicates that the person that logged into the computer did not have full permissions to properly install and register the necessary TimeVue files in MS Windows.
NOTE: If you are upgrading a current TimeVue installation and you have current company data, make sure you backup your database first before uninstalling the software in the steps below.
If this is Windows XP and a new installation:
- Click on your Windows Start Icon and go to Control Panel.
- Select Add\Remove Programs and uninstall TimeVue.
- Reboot the computer and make sure you log into the computer with full administrative rights.
- Reinstall the software.
- Say NO to the option to Overwrite the current copy of the software when opening TimeVue again if this option window appears.
If this is Windows 7 or Vista and a new installation:
- If your TimeVue CD version is prior to v1.0.32, insert the CD in the drive. Close the installation wizard if it appears.
- Download the TimeVue update and follow the instructions on the download page to install the update. Go to this link: TimeVue Update
- After the software is installed, a TimeVue short-cut will appear on the Windows desktop.
- Right mouse click on the TimeVue short-cut on the desktop and select Properties.
- In the properties window, select the Compatibility tab.
- Make sure the Run the Program as Administrator option is checked at the bottom of this screen. Click Apply and OK to save your changes.
- Double-click on the TimeVue short-cut to start the program.
- If the User Account Control window appears, click YES to allow the program to open.
- Say NO to the option to Overwrite the current copy of the software when opening TimeVue again if this option window appears.
