The SB-100 requires a MS-DOS compatible printer with a parallel connector type. Dot matrix printers are most compatible and recommended. All printers are not compatible. Due to the large range of printers, Icon Time Systems suggests Epson and Panasonic dot matrix printers.

Why are the SBA and SB-100 Employee Time Clocks easier to use than PC-based systems?

Fast Setup
Consider the setup of a PC-based time clock system. Time and attendance software must be loaded and configured for your PC. After the PC serial port is located, you need to route a cable through walls, ceilings, or any other obstructions in order to connect the clock to the PC (often limited to a 25-foot range). The connection must be tested between the PC and the clock. After troubleshooting problems, you must add each employee to your software. A PC-based system's installation can be a lengthy, often costly process.

Easy Installation
Once installed, PC-based time clocks require regular use of the time and attendance software. To run reports, or clock IN an employee who forgets a badge or misses a digit, the manager must have access to the PC. Security and dependability of the PC must be carefully considered. If the PC is down, or access is restricted, payroll is often delayed.
